Hi, my name is Jake Hastings.

I am 21 years old and in my third and final year of studying BA (Hons) Sports Journalism at the University of South Wales in Cardiff. 

I am a media intern at Cardiff City Football Club, where I attend home matches in the press box and press conference area. I write a variety of articles covering both the first team and the academy. This experience has helped me develop as a journalist but also as an individual.

I am also a member of the Basingstoke Town Football Club Media Team, who play in the Southern Premier Division South in English Non League. I contribute weekly to the matchday programme, and when I am back home, I attend home matches, writing a variety of articles.

Writing is definitely my favoured side of journalism, but I am interested in learning and understanding other aspects. I have had experience behind and in front of the camera. I've worked on photography, videography and conducting interviews.

As I approach the end of my time at university, I'll be hoping to break into the industry, whether that is via an apprenticeship or a full-time job.
